The Data Architect/ Data Modeler will work as part of the CMM Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) team to deploy a secured cloud-native EDW platform and support the statutory and operational reporting, data cataloging, and other analytical objectives. The Data Architect/ Data Modeler is responsible for defining, implementing, and governing the logical and physical data models that underpin the EDW. This role ensures data structures support secure ingestion, high-quality analytics, performance at scale, and alignment with federal data governance, classification, and compliance requirements defined in the SOW.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop CMM Data Classification Standards for sensitive and high-value data.
Facilitate workshops to define security controls and data handling requirements for sensitive data.
Incorporate classification requirements into case management system design, procurement specifications, and training content.
Develop compliance monitoring methods and resolve operational classification issues.
Align classification outputs with judiciary risk tolerance and operational needs.
Configure metadata structures, workflows, automation, and security settings in the new platform (Qlik/Talend) to support case management metadata requirements.
Integrate classification metadata and labels into catalog structures in line with CMM standards.
Develop ingestion processes for case management metadata, including defining attribute descriptions for catalog entries.
Create and deliver training, job aids, and communications to drive user adoption.
Incorporate classification metadata for case management into the enterprise catalog, monitor system performance and implement optimization updates post-migration.
Design and maintain enterprise logical and physical data models for the EDW and downstream data marts.
Define dimensional, relational, and analytical schemas optimized for reporting and analytics workloads.
Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements and STTMs into accurate data structures.
Partner with data engineers to ensure model-driven ETL/ELT implementations.
Ensure data models align with data governance standards, classification policies, and security controls.
Implement naming conventions, modeling standards, and version control for all data models.
Support data quality, integrity, and consistency across integrated source systems.
Optimize models for query performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Maintain metadata, lineage, and model documentation for inclusion in the metadata catalog.
Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing modeling expertise and recommendations.
Support testing, validation, and reconciliation of data structures and transformations.
Produce and maintain audit-ready documentation for data models and design decisions.
Operates within an Agile federal delivery environment.
Collaborates closely with BI architects, data engineers, and business analysts.
Accountable for data model quality, consistency, and performance.
Expected to maintain continuous audit readiness and documentation accuracy.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS and 8+ years of experience. or equivalent years of experience
Experience in data architecture and data modeling roles.
Proven expertise in logical, physical, and dimensional data modeling.
Experience supporting enterprise EDW (Snowflake) and analytics platforms.
Strong SQL skills and deep understanding of relational and analytical databases.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
Ability to produce clear, structured, and audit-ready data documentation.
Experience supporting federal EDW or judiciary data programs.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake data modeling.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and lineage tools.
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred).
Experience mentoring junior data modelers or engineers.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
MA/MS degree with 10+ years of general experience in information systems and 8+ years of specialized experience.
