Better and fairer care. Always.
St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and nearly 30,000 people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of Australia’s health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.
We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent’s kind of person. Someone who puts excellence, compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.
Are you an experienced and dedicated Data Analytics Specialist ready to make a significant impact on health services in line with Catholic values? Join St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) and contribute to our mission of bringing God’s love to those in need through the healing ministry of Jesus, especially people who are poor or vulnerable.
The Opportunity
The role of the Data Analytics Specialist is central to bridging the gap between raw data and actionable mission delivery.
You are responsible for the analysis, design, development, and enhancement of the Augmented Analytics and decision support systems that underpin enterprise performance across our public, private, and aged care divisions.
This role will play a strategic part in modernising our insights delivery, moving beyond simple descriptive reporting to utilize AI and advanced analytics for predictive and diagnostic insights that directly influence capacity management and patient flow. This involves leveraging AI-enabled features in tools like Power BI and applying Generative AI responsibly to accelerate technical work (e.g., faster DAX/SQL generation).
You will work within a broader Citizen Enablement Community across SVHA, ensuring all activities align with the SVHA’s Data Governance & Analytics Strategy and Standards. This commitment includes being a champion for Responsible AI practices, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and ethical use of advanced analytics, fundamentally enabling SVHA to fulfill its promise of better and fairer care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Analytics Specialist, you will be expected to:
Reporting & Analytics:
Design and develop high-quality reports, dashboards and visualisations that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Manage the end-to-end reporting lifecycle with strong governance, documentation and continuous improvement of insights products. Proactively explore and leverage AI-enabled features within Power BI (such as AI visuals and AutoML) to deliver advanced predictive and diagnostic insights.
Operational Support:
Manage issue resolution through service desk tools (e.g., Cherwell) and direct engagement with users, ensuring timely and effective support. Implement appropriate data validation and quality-checking processes to maintain the reliability and accuracy of reporting systems.
Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and transparency. Proactively manage communications and expectations related to reporting, insights and issue resolution.
Mission & Identity: Ensure the Mission, Vision, Creed, and Values of SVHA (Compassion, Justice, Integrity, Excellence ) are effectively integrated into all areas of responsibility. Championing Responsible AI practices, ensuring data use maintains privacy, transparency, and minimises bias within our healthcare environment.
