The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking an experienced Underwriting Data & Analytics Manager. This position provides leadership and directs the activities of the Underwriting Data & Analytics team responsible for accurate performance measurement, reporting of KPIs, and ad hoc analysis to inform underwriting strategy and decision making. This position also ensures that the management team is provided the necessary tools within a reasonable time to support improved performance, reduction in cost, and promotion of products and services.
This position is responsible for developing models and performance management reports in support of strategic initiatives. Being responsible for the preparation and review of key financial statements and reports, as well as daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance reports for the business units. In addition, this position provides training, guidance, and technical and analytical expertise.
This role contributes to the MRM strategy through advanced data analysis and reporting, providing management with an effective way to quickly identify their team’s performance across various KPIs, allowing them to make sound decisions to impact results.
Responsibilities:
Decisions include development of policies and procedures and best practices. Makes decisions involving goal and resource allocation within business units. Work requires extensive knowledge in Teradata and SQL databases with data mining knowledge as well as data visualization through Tableau. Work regularly requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in areas such as:
Developing financial models to meet productivity goals and budget targets
Querying large data sets and validating data
Developing specialized reports/dashboards to ensure the management team has the necessary reports and analysis to manage performance of call center employees
Troubleshooting data issues
Developing solutions to complex data issues
Formulation of calculations to compute incentives, goals, forecasts
Analyze and address key business performance questions around efficiency, success gaps, service quality, goals, projections, and potential outcomes.
Development and distribution of analytics and performance reports used by all employee levels
Professional documentation of existing and/or new processes
Qualifications:
4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Experience in a traditional data or analytics corporate environment required
Experience in progressive financial modeling, preparing, and analyzing financial reports, developing cost-benefit models, and creating detailed written recommendations required
Previous experience in managing teams
Tableau experience with Strong SQL skills with data mining knowledge
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint including Advanced Excel skills (incl. VBA, macros, complex calculations, etc.)
Able to rapidly learn new processes, databases, applications
Proven ability to achieve high quality results in conjunction with meeting productivity requirements
Ability to multi-task, balance numerous and diverse operations, as well as possess the ability to work well with all levels of employees and management
The starting pay range for this position is:
$117,600.00 - $156,400.00Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
