Job Description:

This role involves working with diverse datasets, performing data analysis, and leveraging cloud-based solutions for advanced analytics to tell meaningful stories and recommend data driven strategies. The Data Analyst requires a minimum of 3 years of experience, who possesses a breath of analytical and data skills coupled with business acumen. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with business partners and understand the following areas:

What will you do?

  • Build process for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources, and maintain data pipeline processes for end-user reporting
  • Conduct thorough data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations to drive business and optimize operational efficiency
  • Apply visualization techniques to present data-driven insights to business stakeholders in a compelling and easily understandable manner, and deliver user stories that accurately represent business requirement and preferences
  • Enable leaders to make timely data-driven product, market-development, and distribution decisions
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, tools, and best practices related to data analytics, business intelligence and cloud computing
  • Comply fully with all privacy, confidentiality, data security, and other requirements related to customer data

What will you need to succeed?

  • Strong coding skills in SQL and Python, proficiency in business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, and knowledge of cloud services and cloud computing
  • Must be able to effectively communicate results to a business audience not familiar with data and analytics   
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in analytics, data warehousing, quantitative data analysis tools, and reporting tools
  • Proven ability to work well independently, but also function in a team environment, with frequent contact with people at all levels of the SLF Canada organization
  • Proven balance of analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • A suitable academic background, such as an undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or computer science, with a minor or background in business, or an undergraduate degree in business, plus strong quantitative skills and background

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
