The Marketing Division leads brand, creative,marketing, and membership as a cross-group organization with a mission to expand Rakuten Group's membership value and ecosystem of over 70 services.

We believe that the mobile domain is a platform that plays a fundamental role in the ecosystem, and as the Marketing Division, we are further promoting collaboration with Rakuten Mobile.

Department Overview

We will increase the number of new Rakuten Mobile subscribers in the web marketing area and promote expansion of market share.

We collaborate with Rakuten Group media (Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten Travel, Rakuten Card, Rakuten Pay, etc.) to plan, implement, and analyze web marketing strategies to acquire new Rakuten Mobile customers.

 

The Planning & Analysis Section, for which we are currently recruiting, has the most important mission of acquiring new Rakuten Mobile subscribers. We consistently promote the planning, execution, and analysis of web marketing strategies by making maximum use of the vast amount of data owned by the Rakuten Group and diverse internal and external channels of the Rakuten Group.

Specifically, we comprehensively cover the following areas:

Digital Marketing Domain: We utilize major digital media outside the Rakuten Group (listing ads, display ads, affiliates, SEO, etc.) to plan strategies, execute measures, and measure effects for acquiring new Rakuten Mobile subscribers.

Rakuten Group Internal Domain: We work closely with the diverse media and customer assets of over 70 Rakuten Group services such as Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten Travel, Rakuten Card, and Rakuten Pay to promote web marketing strategies that maximize synergy.

In this department, we integrate and analyze data obtained from these broad channels to design and execute precise marketing measures based on a deep understanding of user behavior, thereby powerfully driving the growth of Rakuten Mobile.

Data utilization is indispensable for marketing activities aimed at acquiring Rakuten Mobile line subscribers. To further strengthen the construction and utilization of a data foundation for more advanced data analysis and sophisticated ad delivery control both internally and externally at Rakuten, we are recruiting additional data analysts. This position will play a crucial role in leveraging abundant data and the latest technology to deepen customer understanding and drive business growth through optimization of measures.

 

Position Details

In this position, you will promote data utilization to maximize the acquisition of mobile line subscriptions within Rakuten Mobile's marketing department. You will lead a series of processes from integrating and analyzing diverse data sources, deriving insights directly linked to business impact, to translating them into actionable measures.

Problem Solving through Data Aggregation and Analysis

- Data analysis utilizing the vast user data and behavior logs of the Rakuten Group, and a robust data analysis environment (BigQuery, Databricks, BI tools, etc.)

- Data analysis and improvement proposals for acquiring mobile line subscriptions

- Effect estimation and verification for new service introductions

- Promotion of hyper-personalization for marketing measures

Building Data Linkage Infrastructure for Internal/External Tools (KARTE, SalesForce, LINE, etc.)

- Designing and planning for hyper-personalization

- Building and optimizing machine learning and AI models with specialized departments

Designing, Building, and Operating Dashboards

- Data processing using BigQuery/BI tools (DOMO Tableau, Looker, etc.), dashboard design, construction, automation, and development of KPI monitoring infrastructure

Proposing Analysis Results and Supporting Decision Making

- Supporting ad-hoc data extraction and hypothesis testing

- Structurally organizing analysis results as a story and presenting proposals and reports through documents and presentations

- Collaborating with diverse stakeholders (marketing personnel, development teams, etc.) to provide proposals and decision-making support based on quantitative insights

Work Environment

Our organization is a team within the Rakuten Mobile marketing department, dedicated to acquiring new line subscribers through data utilization. Comprising three data analysts and two data scientists, primarily in their 20s and 30s, each member enjoys significant autonomy and influence, fostering a fast-paced environment for challenging work. Mandatory Qualifications:

- Practical experience of approximately 3 years or more in data extraction, processing, and aggregation using SQL.

- Practical experience of 3 years or more in data processing on BigQuery, and data processing, data analysis, and dashboard construction using BI tools (Tableau, Looker, DOMO, etc.).

- Experience in autonomously designing hypotheses, structuring analysis, and designing analysis to solve business problems.

- Experience in structuring analysis results as a story and presenting them in documents and presentations.

- Experience in collaborating with various stakeholders and providing proposals and decision-making support based on quantitative insights.

Desired Qualifications:

-  Practical experience in data analysis within a marketing department (e.g., measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, optimizing digital advertising, data analysis for CRM initiatives).

- Business-level English proficiency.

- Understanding of cookies and tracking technologies.

- Conceptual understanding, practical experience, or tool usage experience with generative AI, machine learning, and deep learning.

- Practical experience in data analysis, visualization, and machine learning using Python or R.

- Practical experience utilizing basic statistical knowledge (e.g., mean, variance, population/sample, hypothesis testing).

- Knowledge and implementation experience of statistical models (e.g., logistic regression, clustering, factor analysis).

- Experience in promoting dashboard usage and supporting data utilization in user departments (e.g., data literacy education, explanatory meetings).
