Data Analyst

PRIMARY DETAIL

We are seeking a casual Data Analyst to provide technical support and advice in relation to data analytics that enable evidence-based decision making.

About the Role

In this position, you will work closely with your manager to:

  • Support the design and development of Power BI dashboards and reports that present agreed KPIs, SLAs and service performance measures across shared services. 

  • Support the development of an integrated Contact Centre reporting view, consolidating demand, volumes and performance across multiple channels and hand-offs. 

  • Support the design, coordination and facilitation of workshops with stakeholders to agree on KPIs, SLAs and service performance measures as part of designing the Business Performance Management Framework for Corporate Shared Services, under the auspices of the CSS program, including meeting program timelines and deliverables. 

  • Support the development of standardised data models to support drill-down reporting from executive-level views to transactional and service-level detail. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into clear data models, metrics and visualisations. 

  • Extract, transform and prepare data from multiple source systems using SQL and Snowflake, ensuring accuracy, consistency and usability for reporting. 

  • Perform data cleansing, validation and reconciliation to improve data quality and establish trusted datasets. 

  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and issues. 

  • Work closely with the MQIT integration and application teams to understand data flows, dependencies and system constraints. 

  • Contribute to documentation of data definitions, business rules, assumptions and limitations to support consistent interpretation of reports. 

  • Maintain the Data and Analytics stream delivery plan, recording progress in line with the schedule to ensure milestones and deliverables are met to the quality standard and timelines required by the CSS program 

  • Update daily project task cards, addressing issues as they arise and escalating any blockers to the program team for resolution. 

  • Attend stand-up meetings with the program team and complete status and progress report in line with the program governance and reporting requirements.  

  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status, and implementation risks and issues. 

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations for program steering committees, as required. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the program team.

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and reporting, including data extraction, transformation and visualisation. 

  • Working knowledge of data structures and data management principles, including data cleansing and validation. 

  • Proven experience using SQL to query and manipulate data from relational databases. 

  • Strong capability in Excel, and experience in developing reports and dashboards using Power BI and data visualisation. 

  • Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. 

  • Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, program environment.  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.  

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Experience or have an understanding of data modelling to support reporting solutions. 

  • Experience ingesting data from multiple source systems, such as HR, Finance and IT platforms, into a cloud data platform 

  • Ability to work with multiple data sources and systems and resolve data quality or consistency issues. 

  • Experience collaborating with IT and integration teams to understand data pipelines, system dependencies and constraints.

At least TWO of:

  • INAN: Analytics (Level 4)

  • DTAN: Data modelling and design (Level 3) VISL: Data visualisation (Level 4)

  • BSMO: Business modelling (Level 4)
