This role requires regular interaction with government agencies, research funders, and academic institutions worldwide. Candidates must be comfortable engaging diplomatically and professionally with senior policymakers across diverse cultural contexts.
As a Research Data Analyst, you will be part of a global team delivering data-driven insights to support science/research policy decisions, research evaluation, science diplomacy and -more in general- strategic analytical projects on scientific and technological research. You will contribute quantitative and qualitative analyses, develop custom metrics/methodologies, and help translate data into actionable recommendations for high-level stakeholders.
Produce clear, accurate analyses for research evaluation and strategy projects.
Prepare, clean, and blend data from multiple sources; ensure data quality and reproducibility.
Develop insightful visualizations and written insights that communicate complex ideas simply.
Engage with internal teams and external partners to understand needs and propose analytical approaches.
Apply statistical or computational techniques to support modelling, benchmarking, and evaluation work.
Proven experience as a data analyst or similar role.
Python skills (including data manipulation libraries); PySpark experience preferred.
Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies, in particular programmatic use of LLMs and other AI models' APIs/libraries or self-hosted model workflows.
Experience extracting and modelling data using SQL/pyspark/etc.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and intercultural communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality outputs on time.
Interest in research/science policy, science diplomacy, scientific funding systems, and the role of research/science in society.
Understanding of academic research workflows or prior experience working with research institutions.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
