Purpose of Position
The D365 Finance & Operations Developer is the core platform developer within the Group Finance Systems team, responsible for the design, build, and maintenance of customisations and extensions within D365 F&O. Working closely with the Technical Architect and Business Analyst, this role translates functional requirements into robust, well-structured technical solutions — built in accordance with Microsoft best practices and the team's development standards.
As a key technical contributor on the Billing Experience 2.0 programme, this role will be central to delivering the D365 platform changes needed to support modernised internal and external payment processes — including AP automation, payment format configurations, electronic reporting, and any required extensions to the finance data model.
Key Tasks

- Design and build extensions to AP, payment journal, and bank reconciliation processes as required by the programme.
- Develop and configure Electronic Reporting (ER) formats to support new payment file structures and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Integration Developer on the technical touchpoints between D365 and external payment platforms or banking systems.
- Participate in technical design reviews and ensure Payment Experience 2.0 solutions are scalable and maintainable.
Platform Development
- Develop, test, and deploy D365 F&O customisations and extensions using X++ in line with Microsoft best practices.
- Design and build SSRS reports and data entities to meet finance reporting and data extraction requirements.
- Configure and extend Electronic Reporting (ER) framework components.
- Manage development environments using the D365 toolchain including Cloud Hosted Environments (CHE), Azure DevOps (ADO), and Lifecycle Services (LCS).
Quality & Standards
- Write clean, well-documented code and conduct peer code reviews within the team.
- Maintain technical documentation for all customisations, configurations, and deployments.
- Ensure solutions are tested thoroughly, supporting SIT and UAT cycles alongside the Business Analyst.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Business Analyst to understand requirements and contribute to functional design decisions.
- Support the Technical Architect in defining and upholding development standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members where applicable.

- Familiarity with SSRS report development and Electronic Reporting (ER) framework.
