Cyto Technologist ASCP
Full Time, First Shift
Must have extensive knowledge in preparing, staining, and evaluating gynecological and non-gynecological material including fine needle aspirations. Demonstrates competency in assessing all material with a high level of accuracy. Shows good judgment with attention to details as well as respect patient confidentiality. Works professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, guests, and other employees. Performance of duties is in accordance with policies and guidelines established with Baptist Health Paducah Laboratory.
Job Duties:
Assists with processing of specimens collected in CT scan as required.
Performs routine microscopic evaluation of cytologic smears and cell blocks.
Completely and correctly screens and interprets cytologic specimens.
Numbers specimens received into computer system with proper identification as to the patient and specimen type.
Maintains maintenance schedule for equipment and monitors supplies of the department.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Completion of Cytology Program
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) is required
