Customer Support Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer based in the West Coast (Arizona, Utah, or Colorado), you will be the front-line ambassador of Malvern Panalytical. Your work goes far beyond technical service—you restore confidence, minimize downtime, and ensure our customers experience the full value of our scientific instrumentation.

You’ll travel extensively across the U.S. to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and train end users on our systems. Your ability to communicate with empathy and clarity will transform service visits into strong, lasting customer relationships. If you enjoy solving problems, working independently, and making a meaningful impact in scientific and industrial environments, this role is an excellent fit for you.

What you will bring to the role

You will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field—or equivalent technical experience.

  • Bring 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electro‑mechanical systems.

  • Be confident working independently, prioritizing tasks, and managing your own schedule.

  • Have strong electro‑mechanical skills and a customer‑first mindset.

  • Be comfortable delivering training and support to end users.

  • Be able to de‑escalate challenging situations and build trust with customers.

  • Be familiar with CRM platforms and service documentation systems.

  • Demonstrate excellent time management and travel‑planning skills.

Additional requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • A valid passport for domestic and international travel.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required certifications or licenses.

  • A personal credit card for business‑related expenses (fully reimbursed per company policy).

Environment & hours:

  • Travel up to 80%, including overnight stays.
