CUSTOMER SERVICE ENGINEER - Field based in Sydney Australia

We are now seeking an experienced Customer Service Engineer to be based in Sydney. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market leading company in a key customer-facing position.

About the Company

We are the world's leading supplier of analytical instrumentation and software for X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and Sample Preparation Equipment (SPE) with more than half a century of experience. Our product portfolio includes a broad range of XRD, XRF and SPE systems which are used for material characterization in scientific research and development, for industrial process control applications and for semiconductor metrology.

As a Customer Service Representative, you will be part of the team of 17 Engineers, serve our customers located in wide Australia. Your work will include installations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex scientific and analytical instrumentation. This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is self-directed and detail oriented.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Repair and maintenance of complex scientific and analytical instrumentation
  • Perform installation of equipment from delivery to sign-off.
  • Perform diagnoses and supports remotely.
  • Keep customers well informed and appropriate personnel on any open issues.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Educated in a relevant subject such as Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Advanced Diploma and above.
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer support or in technical support
  • Experience in precision mechanics.
  • Excellent customer-relationship skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good technical hands-on skills and abilities to work with tools (toolkit).
  • Able and willing to travel, 50% - 60% of your time, across Australasia.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Politeness and diplomacy.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Great sense of initiative and ability to work with people at different hierarchical levels.
  • Be able to work independently in the field and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about customer service.

Great to have?

  • Background in XRF or XRD will be a strong asset.
  • NSW or other states radiation safety license.
  • Experience with other analytical equipment would also be an advantage.

Mandatory

  • Must be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia.
  • Must have a valid a passport and Australian driver's license.

The attractive salary for this position will vary depending on experience. Package includes allowances, superannuation, and a car allowances.
