Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Tama Hills Golf Course, Tama Hills. This is Regular Full Time Position, 35-40 hours a week.

Major Duties:

  • Performs and facilitates in the operations of the golf course by directing the flow of play, ensuring rounds are completed within established time frames. Encourages patron interest in scheduled events and tournaments. Welcomes players and verifies registration and payment of fees. Organizes individual players (singles and doubles) into groups. Starts players/groups on-time and adjusts start times to maintain applicable player spacing and "walk-ons". Explains and enforces course rules and policy, including the cart policy and daily paths ("no-drive" areas), hazards, pace of play, play safety, repair areas, course care policy, appropriate dress code and behavior expectations, course yardage information (indicators), location of restrooms and water coolers; and affirms cart readiness and availability. Acknowledges that appropriate number of guests are checked in via digital tee sheet only. Maintains abreast of course and weather conditions to inform patrons. Equips patrons with score cards, pencils, and applicable informational handouts (course maps, information). Facilitates tournaments, events and outings. Marshals the course to aid in maintaining pace-of-play. Utilizes GPS system to monitor place and efficiently address pace of play issues on course. This includes sending messages to carts and driving and monitoring slow groups on course. Ensures only authorized patrons use golf courses and facilities. Responsible for maintaining the starter's office in a neat, clean and orderly condition. Resolves problems promptly with minimal adverse impact. Utilizes mobile tee sheet to verify cart numbers and associated guests. Ensures correct playing order and that customers are in their assigned golf cart. Responsible for assessing any potential damage to golf carts and rental clubs following customer rounds, as well as first task upon start of shift. Any damage shall be notated with all relevant information (5 Ws) in the starter log. Guest will be escorted to the pro shop and supervisor will help facilitate proper payment procedures for damages. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Subject to an irregular tour of duty, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must have the ability to communicate with great tact and diplomacy. Requires ability to read and write and successfully communicate in English. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Position is a position of trust and must satisfactory complete a Tier 1 Backgroundcheck. Use of applicable uniform is required.
