Customer Journey Expert - Connecting Tribes

HBP (Amsterdam - Haarlerbergpark) Full time

Connecting Tribes Mortgages In Life Management

Location:Amsterdam
Workweek: 36–40 hours
Salary:Job level 16, NL salary scale 10
Language Requirements: Fluent in Dutch and English

The mortgages domain is growing in complexity and change intensity. This role strengthens our ability to stay ahead of change, reduce operational friction and ensure sustainable execution for our people

Are you someone who turns plans into actions and knows how to manage change with a wide range of stakeholders hands-on? Then we’re looking for you!

We’re seeking a Business Consultant who thrives in dynamic environments, stands firm in their convictions, and embraces the human element in change. You are here to make change happen, ensure it lands in daily operations, and remove obstacles that get in the way of execution. You do so by drawing from a deep understanding of our strategy and operating model.— while also bringing a fresh, external perspective sparking new ideas. You take end-to-end ownership of execution: translating initiatives into concrete actions, driving follow-up, unblocking issues, and ensuring teams are engaged and ready in the change process. This includes rolling up your sleeves and delivering key parts yourself (not only coordinating or delegating). You work closely with operational teams, Circle Leads, IT and programs — often without formal authority — and know how to create progress through influence, persistence and structure. This is a hands-on role with personal accountability for getting things over the line. You are close to the operation, actively involved in change initiatives, and accountable for making sure decisions actually work on the floor. Your work will focus on operationalizing solutions that drive transformation across our organization.

About COO Mortgages

Mortgages Operations operates in a domain characterized by a high degree of dynamism and complexity. Changes occur rapidly due to increasing volumes, stricter laws and regulations, technological innovation, and major programs. Within Operations, multidisciplinary teams collaborate on both Origination and In Life Management (ILM). There is extensive expertise in mortgages; the added value of this role lies in connecting, orchestrating, and realizing change across teams and chains.

About the Role

In this role your focus is Mortgages In Life Management. You’ll report hierarchally to the Super Circle Lead of your area and be part of the Center of Expertise (CoE) within Mortgages Operations, which consists of four Customer Journey Experts, each with their own focus area. In this role, you serve as the connecting link between the Mortgages Tribe (squads and programs) and Operations. You ensure that Operations is involved in changes with operational impact in a timely manner and that decisions are effectively implemented and embedded in daily practice.

You will also play a key role in large change initiatives across the mortgages domain. In doing so, you ensure alignment, manage dependencies, and monitor progress for both ongoing operations and change initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Driving execution of change

  • Own and execute the operational implementation of tribe and program initiatives, from decision to golive and stabilization

  • Translate change initiatives into concrete implementation plans (actions, owners, milestones, readiness criteria) and deliver critical work products yourself (e.g., playbooks, runbooks, readiness packs)

  • Actively follow up on actions, remove blockers, and escalate where needed to keep momentum — and take on tasks directly when that is the fastest path to results

  • Coordinate (and where needed lead and execute) testing, training, communication and cutover activities with operational teams

Connecting Tribe and Operations

  • Ensure Operations is involved early in initiatives with operational impact

  • Represent operational interests in change initiatives and challenge them were needed

  • Bring operational bottlenecks and signals back to the tribe agenda and ensure followup

Control, overview and impact

  • Maintain a clear, integrated overview of run & change dependencies for Operations

  • Track progress and impact of change initiatives

  • Ensure changes are embedded in processes, tooling, working instructions and KPIs

What You Bring

  • A strong execution mindset — you take ownership and get things done; you roll up your sleeves and execute yourself where needed

  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making

  • Proven experience in implementing change in an operational environment

  • The ability to translate complexity into clear actions and priorities

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and organizational sensitivity

  • Affinity with operations, IT and large initiatives within a complex organization

  • Creativity, perseverance, and entrepreneurial spirit — you think outside the box and inspire others to adopt your ideas

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO level)

  • Experience with improvement and transformation projects

  • Knowledge of banking processes, IT tooling, and service concepts

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills

  • Fluent in Dutch and English

What We Offer

  • A key role in one of ING’s most complex and impactful product domains

  • High exposure to strategic change initiatives

  • Room to shape the role and make tangible impact

  • Competitive salary based on your experience and skills

  • Excellent secondary benefits

  • Extensive training and development opportunities

  • Office location: Amsterdam

  • Flexible workweek: 36–40 hours

Our Culture: The Orange Code

  • You take it on and make it happen

  • You help others be successful

  • You always stay a step ahead
