The Lead Custodial Worker is responsible for overseeing custodial personnel and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of assigned facilities. This role includes performing manual cleaning tasks such as carpet care, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors. The position serves as the lead for custodial staff in routine building care, manages equipment storage and maintenance, and makes decisions regarding work methods and staff assignments. The Lead Custodial Worker ensures a safe work environment and performs additional duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
Standard hours are 9:15 AM to 6:15 PM; however, shifts, hours, and days may vary based on operational needs. This position is subject to 24-hour emergency call and may require overtime.

Background Check:
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Minimum Education Required

Per Classified Civil Service Specifications.

Qualifications

  • Six months in the Custodial Worker 2 title or equivalent experience.
  • Documentation of successful completion of department-specific advanced custodian certification testing (examples include Cleaning Management Institute, 3M™ S.M.A.R.T. Program, or other reputable industry-recognized certification programs).
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and read and write common vocabulary.
  • Documentation of 100 hours of training in the operation of cleaning equipment (or 1 month of experience).
  • Documentation of 100 hours of training in supervision (or 1 month of experience).
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $17.20-$21.50 per hour. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
