Position Title: Culinary Operations & Logistics Specialist (Student Worker)

The Culinary Operations & Logistics Specialist supports the end-to-end flow of products from the GCU Bakeshop to GCBC retail locations across campus. This role is responsible for coordinating packaging, managing distribution logistics, and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of high-quality products.
Working at the intersection of culinary production and operational execution, this position provides students with hands-on experience in foodservice logistics, systems management, and multi-unit distribution within a professional kitchen environment.
In addition to delivery responsibilities, the specialist plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, supporting production teams, and ensuring a seamless transition from kitchen to customer-facing outlets.
Schedule Expectations
Afternoon availability required (primary operations window)
Monday–Friday production schedule
12–15 hours per week
Consistent availability during peak distribution hours (approx. 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM)
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Coordination & Order Management (40%)
Organize and stage daily orders for multiple GCBC locations
Verify product counts, labeling, and quality prior to distribution
Coordinate efficient loading and routing for timely delivery
Identify and communicate discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns
Maintain accuracy and consistency across all outgoing orders
Distribution & Delivery Execution (40%)
Execute timely delivery of products across campus locations
Follow established delivery routes while adapting to operational needs
Ensure safe handling and transport of all food products
Serve as a professional point of contact between production and retail teams
Uphold the standards and reputation of the GCU Culinary Arts program
Operations Support & Workflow Integration (20%)
Assist with packaging, labeling, and final product staging
Support end-of-day production flow and kitchen organization
Maintain cleanliness of transport equipment and staging areas
Assist with inventory of packaging materials and supply levels
Contribute to continuous improvement of workflow and efficiency

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed

Position Requirements
Valid Driver’s License
Clean Driving Record
Preferred Qualifications
Enrolled in GCU’s Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related program
Valid driver’s license (if required for campus vehicle use)
Previous experience in foodservice, logistics, delivery, or customer service preferred
Current ServSafe Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
Work Schedule
12–15 hours per week
Afternoon-focused shifts aligned with production and delivery timelines
Monday–Friday core schedule
Occasional opportunities for expanded hours during events or peak production periods
