The Kitchen Steward – Receiver is responsible for managing all vendor deliveries, including receiving, verifying, and organizing inventory upon arrival. This role ensures products are handled safely, stored properly, and that all dock and storage areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and efficient manner. The position supports overall kitchen operations by maintaining sanitation standards, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and ensuring timely flow of goods throughout the facility.
This role primarily supports catering and food service operations across Exact Sciences facilities in Madison, WI, with additional support for kitchen and event needs as required.
Essential Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide the highest level of service and support to internal teams, vendors, and guests at all times.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming deliveries, ensuring professional and efficient vendor interactions.
- Receive, verify, and inspect all deliveries against purchase orders and invoices for accuracy, quality, and proper temperature control.
- Unload deliveries safely and efficiently, following all food safety and handling standards.
- Label, date, and properly store all incoming products in walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas using FIFO practices.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and proper rotation of all storage areas, including coolers, freezers, dry storage, and dock spaces.
- Oversee dock operations, including scheduling awareness, traffic flow, vendor access, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards within all receiving and storage areas.
- Break down packaging, manage recycling and waste streams, and maintain a clean dock and back-of-house environment.
- Coordinate with culinary, purchasing, and leadership teams regarding deliveries, shortages, substitutions, and inventory needs.
- Assist with inventory management, including organizing stock, tracking deliveries, and supporting periodic inventory counts.
- Transport products and materials from receiving areas to appropriate storage or kitchen locations as needed.
- Maintain storage areas in a neat, organized, and well-stocked manner, identifying damaged or missing items and communicating appropriately.
- Support kitchen operations with stewarding tasks as needed, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Move equipment and supplies between storage and operational areas as required.
- Clearly and timely communicate operational needs, concerns, and discrepancies to leadership.

Physical & Work Requirements
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Ability to work designated schedules, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds for approximately 50% of the workday
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 90% of the workday)
- Ability to work in varying environments, including docks, coolers, and freezers
- Ability to use mobile devices, tablets, or computers as needed
- Ability to perform repetitive motions including lifting, reaching, grasping, and bending
- Ability to comply with all required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards
- Ability and means to travel between Madison locations
Minimum Qualifications
- Must hold Serve Safe certification at time of hire or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
- No more than two moving violations, events, or accidents within the last 36 months.
- No alcohol or drug event in which a vehicle was driven by the candidate or employee, including but not limited to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) failure, refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test, alcohol related suspension, etc. in the last 36 months.
- No other results from the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that exposes Exact Sciences to what Exact Sciences deems to be an unacceptable level of liability.
- Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Salary Range:
$35,000.00 - $57,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
