Team/Role Overview:

The Cross-Pillar Product Director for Trade will drive the strategic growth & change agenda for Trade & Working Capital Solutions (TWCS) for UK and Europe clusters. Requires a good understanding of trade and working capital products. Requires a good understanding of the industry, regulation and direct competitors' products and services. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation, and contribution to future strategy of the cluster.

What you’ll do:

  • The Cross Pillar Product Director leads the overall performance of TWCS for UK and Europe and monitors performance drivers for all products and portfolios.
  • Works directly with the Trade Cluster Head and Trade Leadership team for UK and Europe in driving the strategic growth, change & regulatory agenda for the cluster
  • Drives cross-product pillar collaboration across all Trade product pillar - Core Trade, Payables Finance, Receivables Finance, Trade Loans & Export & Agency Finance.
  • Works in close alignment with cluster product, sales, operations, and functional leadership in achieving cluster goals.
  • Supports the cluster head in maintaining Risk & Control standards.
  • Deputises for the Cluster Head in various forums as needed.
  • Gathers market intelligence and develops sophisticated market sizing studies to identify the attractiveness of particular markets segments and product offerings.
  • Defines and analyses sector trends, opportunities, and issues.
  • Partners closely with individual product pillar leads to implement growth & change programmes for the cluster.
  • Partners closely with sales teams to identify client opportunities and with the client management organization to meet with prospective clients and to size new opportunities.
  • Leads the regulatory change and reporting agenda for the clusters for Trade.
  • Shapes and implements performance improvement strategies, with a specific focus on cross-sell and integration, including the development of competitive analyses, market analyses, product development road maps, market plans, pricing strategies and product line extensions.
  • Creates business cases that will drive investment decisions.
  • Analyses vertical/product specific P&L's to ensure goals are being met.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Experience in and understanding of Trade & Working Capital Solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in Product Management and/or Product Development discipline.
  • Proven track record of success in positions requiring financial acumen.
  • Experience with and confidence in delivering presentations to senior stakeholders
  • Prior ownership and management of a P&L would be a plus
  • Advanced judgment and in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions.
  • Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions, or current knowledge of sophisticated areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritise, and drive results with a sense of urgency, outstanding strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills, and an ability to innovate and problem solve.
  • Proven analytical, presentation and communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts in a compelling way.
  • Good understanding of regulation and regulatory reporting; good experience of various governance forums including Risk & Control forum.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to influence and build consensus.
  • Bachelor’s/University degree, master’s degree preferred.
