Critical Environment Operations Manager – JLL
What this job involves:
As a Critical Environment Operations Manager at JLL, you'll lead the operations of mission-critical facilities where downtime is simply not an option. This strategic leadership role puts you at the helm of data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other specialized environments requiring precise environmental controls and 24/7 operational excellence. You'll oversee sophisticated infrastructure systems, lead high-performing technical teams, and ensure maximum uptime while driving performance optimization and cost efficiency. This position is ideal for an experienced facilities leader who thrives in high-stakes environments and is passionate about delivering operational excellence. You'll have the opportunity to shape critical operations strategy, mentor talented technical professionals, and make a significant impact on JLL's mission-critical facilities portfolio.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Lead daily operations of critical environment facilities, ensuring continuous performance of building automation systems, power distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, and security systems that meet stringent client requirements
Supervise and develop a team of facilities technicians, maintenance personnel, and shift supervisors by establishing performance standards, providing technical training, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence
Coordinate with engineering teams to implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs that minimize downtime, extend equipment lifecycle, and optimize system reliability
Ensure full compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications while maintaining detailed documentation of systems, procedures, and incidents
Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements and cost reduction opportunities, preparing comprehensive reports on system performance, energy consumption, and maintenance activities for senior leadership and clients
Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate 24/7 coverage while optimizing labor costs and maintaining high employee satisfaction
Conduct regular risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies for potential disruptions, and oversee emergency response procedures and business continuity planning
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in critical facilities operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in mission-critical environments
Demonstrated experience with building automation systems, power distribution, HVAC controls, and emergency power systems
Proven leadership abilities with track record of successfully managing technical teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to make critical decisions quickly and effectively under pressure
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with clients, vendors, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA), or similar industry credentials
Advanced certifications in critical infrastructure management or data center operations (CDCP, CDCE, or equivalent)
Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo, Maximo, or similar platforms
Experience with building automation platforms (BAS) and energy management systems
Background in budget management, capital planning, and financial analysis for critical facilities
Experience working in Tier III or Tier IV data center environments or similarly classified critical facilities
Knowledge of ISO standards, ASHRAE guidelines, Uptime Institute standards, and other relevant industry frameworks
Location: Onsite
Work Shift: Standard business hours with on-call availability for emergency response; flexibility required for 24/7 operational oversight
