Job Summary

Under general supervision, oversees and controls a group of Community Service workers on a Tulsa County work details.

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

Essential Job Functions

  • Pick up community service workers assigned for work detail each day.
  • Identify and check out community service workers for work detail.
  • Transport community service workers to work locations.
  • Coordinate with District, , or site, the  type of work and location of work to be performed.
  • Assign work and needed equipment.
  • Supervise community service workers and perform routine head counts.
  • Keep community service workers away from the public.
  • Report to the Community Service Work Supervisor any and all problems that arise.
  • May perform manual labor for site if no community service workers are available, such as, but not limited to moving items, weed eating  and picking up trash.
  • Perform monthly inspections on all Court Services County vehicles.
  • May assist with urinalysis testing.
  • May assist with special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • City/state/federal codes and regulations pertaining to criminal in work programs
  • Jail procedures
  • Supervisory principles and practices
  • Inmate control
  • Internet, spreadsheet software and word processing software

Ability to:

  • Deal tactfully with others
  • Express facts and opinions clearly and concisely
  • Plan, organize and control the work of inmates
  • Control and frisk inmates
  • To read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, of diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; plus 2 years full-time paid employment in a court related or law enforcement job.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License

Must be able to complete the Defensive Driving Training and Trailer Training within six months of employment.
