Job Summary:
As a Credit Officer at Central 1, you will help drive commercial real estate lending success by analyzing client financials, business plans, and market conditions. Complete credit applications and annual reviews that meet our standards while delivering exceptional customer service. Develop strategic business plans for your portfolio and help achieve departmental objectives through strong relationship management.
What you’ll be doing:
Credit Analysis & Due Diligence
Analyze financial statements and review third-party reports (building condition assessments, environmental site assessments, project monitoring reports)
Review commercial/office leases and Agreements of Purchase & Sale
Assess financial risk and business plans to establish borrower creditworthiness
Loan Processing & Documentation
Prepare and submit loan applications, renewals, amendments, and credit memos within lending standards
Make appropriate recommendations and report exceptions to procedures or standards when necessary
Gather, analyze, and summarize all documentation required for new or renewal credit applications
Portfolio Management
Manage annual review process for designated borrower groups, obtaining financial statements and relevant data from borrowers or credit union members
Monitor account performance to ensure adherence to conditions and covenants, taking corrective action when needed
Manage receipt of monthly borrower reports and submit them to Risk Management as required
Ensure collection of annual review fees, late reporting fees, and other charges
Relationship Management
Support Regional Managers, Directors, and AVP in building relationships with credit unions, financial institutions, and borrowers
Work to meet or exceed sales and revenue objectives while improving customer satisfaction ratings
Maintain open dialogue with credit union members to ensure appropriate credit risk standards
Liaise with lending partners regarding loan maturity renewals, including discussions on renewal fees and interest rate spreads
Advisory Services
Provide advice to credit unions regarding their members' loan requirements
Attend meetings (phone, virtual, or in-person) to develop workable credit solutions for new or existing credit relationships
Assist with special projects and assignments as outlined in annual goals or as needed
Additional Requirements
Extended hours and occasional travel may be required for member meetings, credit reviews, presentations, courses, and conferences
Accuracy is essential in all job responsibilities, including loan analysis, credit applications, and financial documentation
What you'll have:
Education & Experience
College or university degree in finance, business administration, accounting, economics, or equivalent experience
2+ years in credit granting and portfolio management for small to medium commercial loans
Strong understanding of real estate finance (development, construction, mortgage financing) and business financing structures
Technical Skills
Analyze credit risks and make sound recommendations based on business judgment, market factors, and relationship considerations
Build financial models using spreadsheets and other computer tools
Apply financial concepts including ratio analysis, accounting principles, and financial statement analysis
Communication & Relationship Management
Excellent client service with ability to meet and exceed expectations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to build relationships with internal staff, credit union members, partners, and external parties
Handle complex client situations diplomatically and professionally
Interact effectively with borrowers, senior lenders, management, and peers
Problem-Solving & Organization
Develop creative solutions for specific business situations
Research, organize, and synthesize information into clear recommendations

Salary range: $70,000- $85,000
The salary range represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
