Compensation Range
Hourly: $26.70 - $31.50 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)About This Job
The main purpose of this job is to be responsible for analyzing commercial credits by conducting comprehensive financial analysis on companies of diverse industries and sizes. You’ll work with seasoned Commercial Bankers and Portfolio Managers to prepare Credit Approval Summary packets for loan committees for all East West Region markets requiring a high degree of accuracy. These packets are utilized by senior management for annual review of credit relationships, reaffirming loans due for renewal, and for approving new loans. In addition, the Credit Analyst will be responsible for financial statement spreading and other projects as assigned.
Preparation of Credit Approval Summary packets requires an understanding of financial statements and key financial metrics such as cashflow and leverage. Daily work includes research of loan documentation and an understanding of the various bank systems.
Credit Analysts works directly with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in the Commercial line of business, including Commercial Banking, Business Banking, and Private Banking. The position provides an opportunity to learn credit analysis and an introduction to Commercial Banking.
Essential Functions
Prepare Credit Approval Summary packets (minimal to moderate complexity) manually and through Moody’s CreditLens
Prepare financial statement spreads and other credit related items as needed (minimal to moderate complexity)
Perform basic to moderate financial analysis on companies of diverse industries and sizes for commercial loan requests working to research and learn loan structuring and cash flow
Research and understand basic to moderate level loan documentation and various bank systems
Submit work for feedback and analysis
Share beginner level knowledge with others during training and onboarding process
Exposure to and/or performance of simple pricing worksheets for loan and relationship profitability
Exposure to loan committee secretary function
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Basic to intermediate knowledge of financial concepts and financial statements utilizing financial and accounting principles
Basic to intermediate understanding of key financial metrics such as cashflow, leverage and debt service coverage
Basic understanding of loan structure including cashflow thresholds, collateral pools, covenants and other risk mitigating techniques
Beginner level knowledge of Moody’s CreditLens
Motivated and organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities with oversight
Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to most situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field, with a preference for majors in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
6 credit hours of Accounting, or related coursework and 9 credit hours of Finance, or related coursework required
1+ year prior credit or financial analyst experience preferred
