EDTL 604-001 - Techniques for Planning and Assessment
Classroom planning and assessment in the Quebec context including backward design, writing learning objectives, assessment for, of, and as learning, differentiated planning practices, and the creation of assessment tools. Classroom opportunities to foster and assess creativity and problem-based learning while balancing the constraints posed by standardized testing and other evaluation and reporting responsibilities. Quebec Ministry of Education professional competencies are addressed and assessed throughout.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education
A PhD (in exceptional cases, PhD candidates and Master teachers with an MA with extensive relevant experience will be considered).
A teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in secondary schools.
Experience
-Expert knowledge of course content including:
Theory and practice in creating and establishing positive, sustainable classroom learning environments, including managing difficulties.
Effective lesson planning for student engagement.
Developing an effective teacher leadership style and teaching philosophy crucial to establishing and maintaining a positive, authentic learning environment where student engagement is central to learning.
-Experience teaching in the Quebec secondary school system.
-Experience teaching at the elementary level is an asset.
-Familiarity with the Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
-Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program.
-Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.
Other
Knowledge of the impact and proven record of integrating pedagogical approaches anchored in equity, diversity and inclusion.
Familiarity using myCourses, Zoom, and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital and pedagogical teaching and learning tools.

1.Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
2.Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
