Course Number-Section and Title (CRN): EDSL 300 Foundations of Second Language Education (English).
Course Description: This introduction to the field of second language education provides an overview of the supporting disciplines (e.g., linguistics, psychology, sociology and education) and includes historical and analytical perspectives on the development of L2 teaching through an examination of approaches to L2 instruction and specific teaching methods.

1. Expert knowledge of course content as represented in current eCalendar description including:
2. Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) specific to ESL programs and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration
3. Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
4. Experience teaching ESL in Quebec elementary/secondary school system
5. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
6. Knowledge of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
7. Experience as a teacher and/or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.
8. Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities. Experience developing curriculum and/or instructional approaches grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies
