Mission
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Country Communications and Government Relations Manager to manage and enhance the organization's relationships with local government entities and drive communications operations within the Benelux countries.
This role is perfect for a public affairs and communications professional who is passionate about integrated communications and government relations strategies and using their skills to make a meaningful impact in the energy transition. It involves planning, advocacy, and delivery of effective communication to support the organization's objectives and public image, and is pivotal in ensuring that the organization's interests are well-represented and communicated effectively to both government entities, the public, and internal audiences.
You will report to the Head of Communications & Government Relations for France and Benelux Region, and work closely with the European and Global Communications and Government Relations teams to ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all channels.
Responsibilities
- Communication Strategy Development: Collaborate with regional teams to create and execute strategies that enhance the organization's public image, aligning with local business priorities
- Content Creation: Write and manage internal and external communications, including briefings, press releases, speeches, articles, and other related content
- Media Relations Management: Handle media inquiries and manage relationships with the press and public to ensure consistent messaging.
- Brand and Crisis Management: Oversee local brand positioning, content management, crisis communications, and social media presence
- Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy: Work with the Country Managing Director to implement strategies for advocacy and maintain relationships with government officials and industry associations
- Industry Engagement: Develop and manage relationships with industry coalitions, trade associations, and advocacy groups, and represent the organization at various events
- Impact Analysis and Reporting: Monitor public policy changes, analyze their impact, and prepare reports for senior management
- Compliance and Values: Ensure all activities comply with laws, regulations, and company policies, while embodying Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in media, communications, or public affairs, ideally with an interest in technology and innovation
- Cross functional communication skills (media, branding, editorial, web, internal, etc.) and understanding of digital communications and the power of social media
- Exceptional writing/editing skills
- Proven experience to analyze and develop relevant metrics in dealing with different stakeholders
- Experience working in international and cross-cultural environments
- Proactive engagement with multi-level stakeholders
- Experience in dealing with media requests.
- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
- Excellent organizational skills and takes a proactive approach to tasks
- Must be willing to travel often between locations in Brussels, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg – up to 35%
- Business knowledge or industrial technology knowledge is an advantage
- Proficiency in both spoken & written Dutch and English is required. Knowledge of French is a bonus.
