Hi! I’m Brad, General Counsel at Customer.io. I’m looking for an EMEA Corporate Counsel or Senior Corporate Counsel (level depending on experience) to support our growing presence across Europe. This role sits at the intersection of commercial execution and privacy advisory, partnering closely with Sales, Revenue Ops, Security, Privacy, and Product to help the business move fast—without losing good judgment.
This is a hands-on, business-embedded role for someone who enjoys closing deals, simplifying complexity, and building legal processes that actually scale.
What we value
- Business-first legal thinking — you focus on enabling progress, not just identifying risk
- Clarity over complexity — you translate legal nuance into practical, usable guidance
- Ownership mentality — you see gaps, take initiative, and follow things through
- Strong partnerships — you collaborate closely with Sales, Security, Product, and Ops
- Calm judgment under pressure — you can move quickly without sacrificing quality
What you’ll do
Commercial (Sales-Side) Transactions
- Lead drafting and negotiation of SaaS agreements, including MSAs, order forms, SOWs, renewals, and amendments for EMEA customers
- Own and evolve key deal components such as DPAs, security terms, SLAs, liability frameworks, and contract playbooks
- Partner closely with Sales and Deal Desk to improve contract cycle times, reduce friction, and unblock deals
- Support occasional vendor or procurement reviews when needed, balanced against sales-side priorities
Privacy Counseling (EMEA-Focused)
- Provide practical, business-oriented guidance on GDPR, UK GDPR, and related privacy topics as Customer.io expands across EMEA
- Draft, review, and negotiate DPAs, SCCs, and privacy-related terms in customer contracts
- Partner with Security and Product on privacy-by-design reviews, DPIA-style assessments, and process improvements
- Support privacy-related customer inquiries, audits, questionnaires, and incident response when required
Scale, Enablement & Legal Operations
- Build and maintain templates, clause libraries, fallback positions, and internal guidance so teams can move faster with consistency
- Advise on cross-functional initiatives impacting EMEA operations, including GTM programs, new product features, and partner models
- Improve legal workflows, intake, and knowledge management within your scope
- Contribute to a Legal culture that is responsive, pragmatic, and trusted by the business
What we're looking for
- 5+ years post-JD experience, including meaningful SaaS commercial contracting experience (sales-side required)
- Strong experience with European privacy frameworks, including GDPR / UK GDPR and how privacy issues show up in product and contracts
- Experience supporting EMEA-facing teams, with comfort working across time zones and cultures
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain risk in plain language
- Highly organized and responsive, able to manage multiple workstreams without losing clarity
- J.D. from a U.S. law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Must be based in a European time zone (required)
- Strong preference for Ireland or the UK; other European locations considered case by case
- Strong fluency in English required
Nice to have
- Prior experience supporting EMEA sales teams at a SaaS or cloud company
- Hands-on experience with SCCs, TIAs, and international data transfer frameworks
- Experience working with or inside European companies
- Privacy credential (e.g., CIPP/E) or equivalent depth through practice
- Comfort building playbooks, training, and scalable contracting workflows
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company
