The Emerging Market Debt Team within BlackRock’s Fundamental Fixed Income platform is seeking a Junior Portfolio Manager to oversee portfolio construction, risk budgeting and consistency across EM Crossover and dedicated strategies. These portfolios invest across the spectrum of hard currency, local currency and corporate credit and use of derivatives to meet the investment objectives. Clients include pension funds, corporate treasury departments and retail investors, with portfolio types spanning separate accounts, mutual funds and ETFs. The disparate nature of the client base results in portfolios with varying alpha targets and opportunity sets. The PM will be responsible for portfolio construction for this group of portfolios and strategies, customizing trade targets based on client objectives, guidelines and team views and implementing investment process enhancements through coding and automation.
Responsibilities:
Develop a deep understanding of client specific guidelines and objectives and customize portfolio construction accordingly.
Assist with day-to-day portfolio management activities including raising orders, target changes, compliance management, cash management and derivative lifecycle.
Leverage technical skills to make continual improvements to the investment process, increasing efficiency and reducing operational risk.
Automate processes to speed implementation of risk, decrease dispersion of PnL outcomes and detect risk deviations
Utilizing centralized investment support functions to assist the EM Portfolio Management Team
Contributing to full lifecycle of the investment process, including idea generation, trade implementation, risk management and attribution
Support the development of new scalable and automated processes in partnership with software developers
Develop expertise across Aladdin applications (Explore, Portfolio Construction, Portfolio Monitor, Portfolio Risk Tools, etc.) and Bloomberg
Work with trading, legal and operational partners to implement portfolios as needed
Requirements:
3/4+ years of experience in a fixed income portfolio management, risk management or analytics role. Experience in Fixed Income Emerging Markets and/or degree in technical field is a plus
Strong technical, data analysis skills and coding using programming languages, including VBA, R, and Python, and handling large datasets to create automated and algorithmic portfolio construction solutions
Command of fixed income analytical concepts (duration, convexity, measures of carry, tracking error, scenario analysis, etc.) and instrument types (bonds, futures, swaps, securitized products, FX, etc.)
Understanding of macroeconomics and monetary policy, and their impacts on fixed income markets
Effective communication skills
