The Office of Academic Engagement is now accepting applications for a Coordinator in their STEM Student Support Services. As the Coordinator, you will be responsible for effective advising and implementation of a major program and student success initiative focused on supporting retention and success of the increasingly diverse population of individuals pursuing a career in the fields of STEM and Health Sciences. Working alongside the Director to provide expertise and support, major responsibilities include: advising and counseling of students; developing and executing student programming; functioning as a liaison with University faculty, supervisors, and internal and external constituents; monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness, and; supervising a team of undergraduate and graduate student workers providing critical services. The Coordinator is charged with carrying out the mission and strategic plan of the organization through effective and efficient coordination of operations, the development of opportunities, stakeholder relations, and strategic initiatives.

This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
This is a temporary position requiring renewal after August 31, 2027. Renewal is dependent on departmental needs and/or continued funding to renew the appointment. The grants supporting this position have been established at WSU since 2017 and are expected to continue beyond 2027.
Monthly Salary: $4,061.90 - $5,077.36 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experience working successfully with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and/or the public.
Experience with programming, student services, and assessment.
Broad knowledge of and work experience with student transition issues and retention related to the target population.
Well-developed computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability and willingness to work some weekends and evenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in STEM education or related field.
Experience with programs serving the target populations.
Experience in conflict and crisis management.
Ability to work effectively and positively in a highly collaborative environment.
Well-developed written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal
skills.
Extensive problem-solving and decision-making skills.
