Job description:
PURPOSE
The Coaching Coordinator will lead a team of technical coaches. The objective of this team is to coach and develop Kansanshi Smelter artisans, enhancing their technical skills to foster a culture of high-quality work and efficiency within the department. The Coordinator will have overall responsibility for managing, designing, developing, coordinating, and conducting coaching and training programs to achieve this goal in alignment with the People First Strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function;
- Lead the coaching team to deliver coaching and training according to the needs identified in the various sections of the maintenance department, using ‘on the job’ coaching as the primary method of training.
- Create an environment of continuous learning, through the use of coaching methodologies and various instructional techniques identified via training needs assessments or observations.
- Assess the effectiveness and determine the impact of coaching & training on employee skills and KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, etc)
- Conduct Departmental wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need addressing.
- Manage and maintain all relevant short- and long-term planning in line with the company’s training targets.
- Provide the required training initiatives in line with the departmental rosters to avoid work disruptions.
- Create a strong work relationship with all sectional heads to ensure effective staff training and development.
- Develop and maintain coaching and training materials and assessments tools for the relevant technical disciplines.
- Supervise Technical Coaches and assessors to ensure that quality training and assessment is provided in line with agreed tools and methodologies.
- Implement Training and Coaching best practice across all fields.
- Ensure that materials and coaching methods provided by the service providers are available to enable and improve the proficiency framework.
- Manage all people related issues in conjunction with the sectional heads and HR that may arise among the Artisans working in different technical disciplines.
- Conduct training and assessments through the agreed methodologies.
- Avail training and coaching opportunities to employees and provide necessary information.
- Create a coaching culture across the organisation and upskill other employees in coaching methodologies.
Records
- Administer and manage the electronic training nomination tracking and record system.
- Maintain training files for all maintenance employees.
- Organize and upload all necessary training data into a central data base.
- Ensure that records of all training and development interventions are signed off by the head of department.
- Ensure quality control over all written training documentation.
- Record interventions, actions assigned and progress using the learning management tools provided by the company.
Safety
- Implement and monitor the Health, Safety and Training Management System ensuring compliance to relevant Policies, Standards & Procedures
- Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of operational and behavioral safety and encourage teamwork within the department in line with FQML company values.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
- Minimum of diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A degree in the relevant field of study will be an added advantage.
- Eligible to obtain EIZ certification.
- All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 10-15 years’ work experience in Process Plant Operations (e.g. Smelter, Concentrator, Manufacturing, e.t.c)
- Proven work experience in Technical Training and Coaching at a senior level as a Training/workshop Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator, Technical Advisor or similar role
- Ability to supervise a Team of Coaches/Trainers and External Assessors.
- Demonstrated ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
- A high standard of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
- Strong exposure to troubleshooting and plant optimization.
- Experience with standard maintenance reliability processes – five whys, FMECA etc
- Experience with the use of computerized maintenance management systems.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
