Job Description

The Coordinator of Interprofessional Education (IPE) is responsible for the M.D. Program Interprofessional Education Program, including the IPE scholarly concentration, and IPE service learning. The Director is also responsible for the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) IPE Scholar program, and the related activities within the three AHEC locations.

The Coordinator of IPE is responsible for overseeing, developing, implementing and evaluating the Interprofessional Education program for the M.D. Program and ensures compliance with all applicable accreditation standards. The position also oversees the development and implementation of the overall IPE goals, objectives, learning outcomes and assessments for the core M.D. program curriculum. As the leader of the IPE Scholarly Concentration, the Coordinator designs and implements the program, and ensures students are meeting stated goals. To support the service learning, leadership responsibility spans experiences across all four years ensuring students meet the goals of the service learning program commensurate with up to date accreditation standards; that assessment and evaluation data on the service learning program is collected, analyzed, presented at curriculum committees, and used to continuously improve the program commensurate with up to date accreditation standards. The Coordinator is also responsible for direction and coordination of the AHEC IPE Scholar Program. This position develops, integrates, monitors and evaluates the activities of the Interprofessional Education program for the AHEC Scholars Program with the School of Medicine and serves as the primary contact for coordination with additional UNR and NSHE health profession training programs. This position works with outside education Institutions in the development of IPE Scholars. In addition, this position directs the IPE activities of the three AHEC centers to support personnel, online learning portal and in-person training for Centers and AHEC Scholars. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in developing programs, understanding of educational concepts, ability to think creatively, and work collaboratively and flexibly with a variety of stakeholders (both internal and external). Clear and effective communication skills, including delivering feedback and assessment, to medical students as well as faculty and educators is key. Demonstrated alignment with the vision, mission, and values of the School of Medicine include ability to work in a team-based environment, commitment to community and educational impact, and improve areas in need of development and innovation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience OR

Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience

Related Experience:

  • Placement Coordination Experience
  • IPE understanding and program development
  • Online learning LMS experience
  • Accreditation standards and monitoring processes

Certification and Licensure:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada Driver’s License or provide alternative reliable flexible transportation throughout Northern Nevada.

Schedule or Travel Requirements

  • Statewide travel will be required
  • National and regional meetings as beneficial to the position’s goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Interprofessional Education
  • Knowledge/understanding of medical education concepts and practices
  • Experience working in a healthcare or public health setting
