The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

What you will do

  • Prepare high‑volume, nutritious meals for residential participants in line with food safety requirements
  • Cook and serve meals on time, following approved menus and budget guidelines
  • Develop menu plans for manager approval
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and dining area in accordance with Australian Food Safety Standards and TSA policies
  • Manage stock levels, receive deliveries, and store supplies correctly
  • Rotate stock and monitor food quality to meet HACCP standards

What you will bring

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Experience in kitchen or catering operations
  • Ability to work a flexible roster across 7 days
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Strong understanding of safe food‑handling practices
  • HACCP knowledge (highly regarded)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Driver’s licence
