Controls & Electrical Engineer

Location: Longmont, CO (Hybrid – onsite with work-from-home flexibility)

What You’ll Do

As a Controls & Electrical Engineer, you will support the design, programming, and implementation of automated systems used in pharmaceutical operations. This role plays a key part in advancing automation capabilities while supporting system performance, reliability, and innovation.

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot automated machinery and control systems
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of control schemes for automated pharmaceutical equipment
  • Support development of electrical and programming standards across the organization
  • Partner with software and hardware teams to enable integrated system functionality and data exchange
  • Design and enhance HMI interfaces to improve user experience and system visibility
  • Interpret and maintain electrical schematics in compliance with NFPA, UL, and other applicable standards
  • Support system startup activities, including mechanical and software commissioning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to controls, robotics, and automation systems
  • Track and manage workload and project activities using Jira
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Software teams
  • Provide on-site and remote support for high-priority customer issues as needed

What You’ll Bring

You are an experienced engineering professional with strong technical acumen and a proactive mindset, capable of working independently while contributing to broader team initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
    or equivalent hands-on experience in controls, electrical, or mechanical engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial controls programming (e.g., Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or other IEC 61131-3 platforms)
  • Familiarity with robotic systems (Yamaha, ABB, Epson or similar)
  • Experience with C# development and/or Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of vision systems and automation software
  • Experience working with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with NFPA70, NFPA79, and UL 508A standards
  • Experience using Jira or similar project tracking tools

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$96,000 - $160,000
