Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As a Controls Assurance Manager you will play a pivotal role in shaping the risk landscape within our Everyday Banking Risk team. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality risk assurance and advisory services across the Product, Sustainability and Marketing (PSM) division, driving the controls assurance strategy and plan for a diverse portfolio.
As a trusted advisor, you’ll enable and mature PSM’s management of risks within appetite while operationalising Westpac New Zealand’s risk management strategy. You will lead the planning, execution, and reporting of Line 1 assurance reviews over material risks, bank-wide policies, and regulatory obligations. Your expertise will support risk assessments that enable informed, risk-based decisions, including ad-hoc advisory, risk profiling, and risk-in-change activities. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll guide business partners on the design, implementation, and operation of effective controls.
You’ll provide practical support and coaching opportunities to uplift risk knowledge and maturity within PSM. Collaboration is key - you’ll foster a culture of engagement and mutual support across PSM, broader risk and compliance teams, and other divisions in the bank to ensure alignment and shared success.
If you’re passionate about risk management, thrive on building strong partnerships, and want to make a tangible impact on everyday banking, we’d love to hear from you.
