Controllers Global Accounting, Corp & US Accounting Specialist

The Lease Accounting Center of Excellece (CoE) Specialist will be a subject matter expert regarding ASC 842 lease accounting guidance. The Lease Accounting CoE is a global, centralized hub for the end-to-end lease accounting process. The Specialist will own month-end financial close activities for US and International legal entities and apply appropriate ASC 842 lease accounting guidance. This position will prepare selections of quarterly lease analytics, quarterly lease roll-forward schedule, and schedules to support the 10-k Lease footnote disclosure, as well as owning and leading monthly lease accounting processes.

The Specialist will engage business partners around the world to monitor new and potential upcoming leases/contracts and modifications of existing lease agreements while building a subject matter expertise in the area of lease accounting and a proficiency in Pfizer’s lease accounting solution.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain records, supporting files/documentation, complete/accurate work instructions, and necessary compliance documentation in an organized manner

  • Work under general supervision using own judgment where needed and make decisions to resolve moderately complex problems with short term impact within the team

  • Ensure activities are performed to a high standard of operational excellence, established service level agreements and deadlines are met, and adhere to defined process/control requirements

  • Engage directly with all business partners on complex activities and deliverables; maintain effective relationships with business partners

  • Develop areas of expertise and process ownership of global and/or complex areas

  • Utilize strong understanding of accounting principles and departmental knowledge to achieve assigned work

  • Contribute to the completion of moderately complex projects across a work team

  • Ensure strong commitment to the control environment through training and review to meet all control and compliance requirements

  • Participate in global initiatives including transformational projects as needed, as a subject matter expert for the area

  • Focus on continuous improvement in order to improve efficiencies and grow value add opportunities and begin to apply experimentation and use of new ideas

  • Review select activities of junior colleagues and provide informal coaching to further develop junior colleagues

REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance discipline

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • Practical experience of US GAAP and Statutory Accounting/Experience of other GAAPs

  • CPA or international equivalent (ACCA)

  • English proficiency


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree

  • Public accounting experience

  • Advanced SAP & HFM experience

  • International experience

OTHER JOB DETAILS:

  • Must be able to work in Pfizer office 2-3 days per week or as needed by the business

  • Candidate should expect average travel to other locations depending on project activities and related requirements to support activities, including business meetings and workshops


Work Location Assignment: Hybrid

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $86,000.00 to $143,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
