We are seeking a strategic, results-driven professional to join our Supply Chain organization as a Contracts Advisor focused on material and/or service contracting. As a subject matter expert, you will lead complex sourcing initiatives, apply market intelligence to maximize value, and collaborate across functions to deliver measurable cost, risk, and efficiency improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of related professional experience and/or a combination of commercial and technical work experience 

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Supply Chain

  • Proven track record in cost optimization, cost modeling, and total cost‑of‑ownership analysis

  • Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills with multi‑year, service‑based contracts

  • Deep understanding of cost drivers, contracting models, and risk management in complex service markets

  • Skilled in using SAP, Ariba, and spend analytics tools to support sourcing and cost optimization initiatives

  • Strong financial, business acumen, and commercial capabilities, and ability to lead others in connecting ideas, events and circumstances to identify effective business solutions in a complex environment

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies that align with asset plans and corporate objectives, with a strong focus on total cost of ownership and value optimization

  • Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through market analysis, supplier collaboration, demand management and monitoring of category spend

  • Apply data‑driven insights to challenge specifications, service delivery models, and commercial structures to achieve sustainable cost savings

  • Lead sourcing‑to‑contract events for complex services, ensuring commercial outcomes balance cost efficiency, performance, and risk mitigation

  • Design innovative commercial models and negotiation strategies that drive competitive advantage and cost improvement

  • Manage supplier performance with emphasis on cost control, productivity, and continuous improvement and identify innovation and efficiency opportunities

  • Manage project contract planning, contract strategy development, sourcing and negotiation activities through to contract formation and approval and claims / warranty management activities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into sourcing strategies that maximize cost efficiency

Location and other Key details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
