GENERAL PURPOSE

  • Coach and mentor leadership of a manufacturing site, supplier, dealer or office environment to successful implementation of the MillerKnoll Performance System (MKPS).
  • Evaluate functions, activities and processes for application of Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles of process improvement; implement solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert resource and provide ongoing support.
  • Coach local/site CI (Continuous Improvement) Team Members. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Actively participate in the MKPS team.
  • Coach management to develop Current/Target Condition for site/supplier/dealer (usually one site).
  • Connect professionally with external and internal customers to understand learning needs.
  • Continue personal MKPS learning.
  • Design and coordinate MKPS learning for management to accomplish human development.
  • Develop own Current/Target Condition (with coaching) for site/supplier/dealer including human development plan.
  • Evaluate new products or processes for appropriate MKPS application.
  • Hands-on/side-by-side coaching during implementation of a plan.
  • Must have or be willing to develop a deep understanding of MKPS concepts and frameworks (subject matter expert) through hands-on application and personal learning.
  • Promote MKPS activities and results.
  •  Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

  •  Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or other comparable engineering degree, or related, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in various manufacturing/operations/administrative roles, including supervision/management.
  • 1-2 years of successful experience with MKPS or Lean.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to objectively observe, reflect, and conclude.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach individually or in small groups/teams, manage projects (multiple projects), and apply conflict management skills.
  • Understanding of change management principles and application of conflict management skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to solve problems using the scientific method and to coach others to solve problems.
  • Capability to learn about products and processes, and willingness to work effectively at hands-on levels.
  • Out of town travel 0%-50% of the time, and local travel approximately10%-50% of the time, depending on assignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools currently being used in the MK office environment.
  • Ability to fill out 'A3' and reflect with a coach (A3 = a form showing current condition, target condition, and implementation strategy).
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
