What is the focus of the role

The Digital Content COE is a next generation content engine that has been built for scale, speed, automation and personalisation. As the Content Strategy Senior Specialist within the Content Strategy and Performance team, you are responsible for designing and activating scalable, omnichannel content strategies that drive measurable business growth, relevance and high-quality customer experiences.

You’re skilled at translating business and customer goals into performance driven content strategies, and can translate business priorities into structured, reusable content systems that perform across web, app, loyalty, CRM, push, search and emerging digital environments. Working in close partnership with Digital, Marketing, Segment and Product teams, you will have a deep understanding of content marketing, digital content, customer experience.

You will provide clear strategic direction to a diverse team, ensuring content aligns to customer needs, commercial objectives and governance frameworks.

About the role

As a Content Strategy Senior Specialist, you are passionate about activating content experiences that connect with customers and deliver measurable impact. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and work closely with stakeholders across the business to bring content strategies to life.

You ensure content is strategically structured, orchestrated and optimised across journeys, channels and platforms. You combine content marketing expertise with commercial insights and systems thinking, to enable measurable growth outcomes.

You shape how content is delivered, designing frameworks, activation plans, performance models and governance structures that enable consistent, scalable and AI-enabled content experiences at scale. You position content as a strategic growth engine across digital ecosystems, ensuring technical feasibility and world-class customer experience.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Digital channel planning – expertise tailoring content activation strategies across web, app, push, email, social and other future channels
  • Content strategy and experience design execution – translate business priorities into clear strategies and performance frameworks, overseeing content production to drive relevance, impact and growth whilst meeting future content demand
  • Future-focused content orchestration - contribute to information architecture, taxonomy and structured content approach, in partnership with the team, enabling scalable content orchestration
  • Cross-functional collaboration – act as a strategic partner, working closely with complex, diverse stakeholders to create cohesive content strategies that
  • Capability uplift and influence – comfortable with ambiguity and change, you will drive the value of content strategy across a diverse team and oversee end-to-end delivery, from strategy to activation
  • Content syndication – define, control and govern content syndication models across content environments
  • AI-enabled workflows – embed AI-assisted workflows into briefing, drafting, optimisation and reporting processes
  • Content performance and discovery – own the benchmarks for content performance, in partnership with cross-functional team, drive KPIs, analyse performance data and forecast trends to guide strategic decisions and commercial results
  • Future-focused growth – stay ahead of content strategy trends and performance, driving team standards, ensuring future success and contributing to content transformation initiatives
  • Content systems and scalability – contribute to scalable content systems to enable long-term growth, speed-to-market and scale
  • Experimentation and personalisation – drive strategic content personalisation and experimentation framework, satisfying customer expectations and performance requirements
  • Continuous improvement, feedback and optimisation – proactively gather feedback and analysis to identify inefficiencies and drive constant improvement opportunities in content workflows
  • Compliance and governance - ensure responsible content compliance, AI-governance ethical standards within Telstra enterprise frameworks
  • Data-driven decision making – drive reporting needs and be comfortable interpreting multiple sets of data, alongside Content Analyst, to gather tangible, measurable, strategic insights that form future strategies

What You’ll Bring

Mandatory skills & experience

  • Proven experience delivering content strategy and channel planning
  • Strong capability in content performance measurement against KPIs
  • SEO expertise
  • Hands‑on experience with content systems / CMS
  • Experience in content marketing and personalisation
  • Ability to demonstrate how content strategy drives outcomes
  • Openness and comfort working with AI‑enabled content approaches
  • Strong stakeholder management skills in complex environments

Preferred skills & experience

  • Experience working in a large‑scale or complex organisation
  • Exposure to AI search and emerging search behaviours
  • Experience with content syndication
  • Workshop facilitation experience
  • Hands‑on experience with Workfront and/or Adobe AEM
