The Tailings Contact EIT (Engineer-in-Training) will support the Tailings Contact Engineering team in managing tailings operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to develop technical expertise in tailings management within a dynamic oil sands environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering with 2 years' working experience from graduation.

  • Registered EIT (Engineer-in-Training) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

  • Ability to apply general principles & standard techniques/procedures.

  • Working knowledge of technical work processes related to work area

  • Can assess outcomes of proposed technical changes and address several technical issues simultaneously

  • Demonstrates continuous improvement mindset and ability to learn

  • Developing interpersonal/communications skills

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and reporting tailings performance and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Support the development and implementation of tailings management plans and operational strategies.

  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams to ensure safe and efficient tailings operations.

  • Analyze data and prepare technical reports to support decision-making and regulatory submissions.

  • Participate in field inspections and audits to verify adherence to best practices and standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on sustainability and operational efficiency.

  • Support start up and optimization of the new Advanced Dewatering Polymer plant
