Job Description

This role supports Procurement Transformation by designing, configuring, and enhancing Northern Trust’s Coupa Spend Management platform to meet the evolving needs of a complex, global organization. The position focuses on solution development, configuration, and continuous improvement, rather than routine operational support.

The role operates under general supervision and applies independent judgment to carry out key activities. The Consultant partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, compliant system capabilities, while contributing to departmental priorities and platform maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and enhance Coupa functionality to support procure‑to‑pay, contracting, supplier, invoicing, and related business processes.
  • Translate business, operational, and control requirements into scalable Coupa configurations aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Lead configuration and build activities for new functionality, enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to assess needs, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend system‑based solutions.
  • Serve as a functional subject‑matter expert on Coupa capabilities, including AI‑enabled features, and support responsible adoption where they add business value.
  • Support integrations between Coupa and ERP or related enterprise systems in partnership with Technology teams.
  • Coordinate and support testing activities, including UAT preparation and validation.
  • Document configuration decisions, solution designs, and functional requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and departmental priorities

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience with procurement systems, P2P platforms, or enterprise application configuration.
  • Hands‑on experience configuring and implementing Coupa solutions.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, accounts payable, supplier management, and contract lifecycle processes.
  • Experience supporting integrations between Coupa and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Coupa certification is a plus.
  • Experience with other P2P (Procure-to-Pay) platforms is a bonus.
