What can you expect?

As the Construction Management Intern, you will work on-site in Anchorage and be responsible for assisting the Construction Management Team with project planning and implementation requirements. 

How will you do it?

  • Assists the Construction Team including the Project Manager, Quality Control, and Superintendent with job related tasks.
  • Assists with material ordering and logistics as needed.
  • Support project reporting including cost analysis; timekeeping; environmental and permit compliance; daily reports; QC/QA; quantities; and safety program documentation.
  • Assists with creating and filing project reports including inspection reports; job diaries, photographs and video logs; and subcontractor reports as needed. 
  • Prepares correspondence as needed.
  • Assists Construction Superintendent with updates to project schedule.
  • Maintains effective communication and coordination among all project participants. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer-based construction and scheduling programs preferred.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal communication methods.
  • Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others; ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information. Ability to use judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   
  • Ability to interpret and communicate project plans and drawings.
  • Should have adequate knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, scheduling software, job costing software and word processing software.  Microsoft packages preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Environmental’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is moderate but at times it may be loud. The work may be performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.  Work may include rotations in the field; typical rotation is 2 to 4 weeks. Work may be at remote locations with limited cell and/or internet capabilities
