Job Summary

As a Construction Engineer in the Chicago area, you’ll provide full-time on-site oversight for water and sewer infrastructure projects, ensuring contractor compliance, quality, and safety. You’ll coordinate daily construction activities, review submittals and pay applications, monitor schedules, and serve as a key liaison between the Owner, contractors, and project stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide full-time on-site construction oversight and contract administration
  • Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and safety requirements
  • Coordinate daily construction activities and resolve field issues
  • Review and approve submittals, and testing compliance
  • Monitor construction schedule and notify the Owner of potential delays
  • Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities and progress
  • Prepare daily reports, meeting minutes, and progress documentation
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and acceptance of completed work
  • Enforce quality control and workmanship standards
  • Serve as liaison between Owner, Contractor, inspectors, and stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in Resident Engineer activities and managing construction field teams on water and/or sewer infrastructure projects
  • Experience with water and sewer construction projects, Project Management Procedures (PMP’s) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG’s) familiarity a plus.
  • Preferred Certifications, but not required: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation.

Additional Information

T.Y. Lin International is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $90,000 - $110,000 annually for this position and local market.
