Compliance Technician I

Under the direction of the Supervisor Gaming Technical, the Compliance Technician I effectively troubleshoots and repairs issues to support game integrity, while helping coordinate regulatory actions and participating in technical projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Leads investigative efforts to identify and resolve issues affecting game integrity by driving decisive, corrective actions that prevent payout inaccuracies, system malfunctions, and significant revenue loss, while underscoring the operational risks of inaction.
2.  Leads forensic investigations and incident response operations by applying tribal court standards and regulatory protocols to preserve the integrity of gaming environments. Secures incident scenes to prevent evidence tampering, conduct structured interviews with involved patrons, and perform multi-source data analysis, including audit logs, chat transcripts, and surveillance footage, to detect behavioral anomalies and coordinated actions. Executes comprehensive evidence collection, including device confiscation when warranted, and produce detailed investigative reports outlining timelines, findings, and evidentiary summaries to support internal adjudication and potential legal proceedings, while mitigating operational, reputational, and financial risks.
3.  Utilizes advanced diagnostic, analytical, and technical expertise to extract actionable insights from gaming machine behavior, ensuring precision in revenue tracking through comprehensive mastery of network architectures, communication protocols, and system integrations. Administers and optimizes diverse operating systems and hardware environments, applying deep systems knowledge to maintain seamless connectivity and data integrity.
4.  Resolves complex hardware malfunctions involving circuitry, voltage regulation, and power distribution, ensuring sustained performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance in mission-critical gaming infrastructures. Collaborates with vendors to determine fault attribution, distinguishing between game component failures and machine-level malfunctions.
5.  Manages and configurations and for over 115,000 software assets and 8,000+ gaming and peripheral devices, including slot machines, kiosks, progressive controllers, media players, and shufflers, by conducting audits, validating configurations, and resolving discrepancies within service-level timelines.
6.  Collaborates cross-functionally with internal departments (e.g., Table Games, IT, Slots) to coordinate device swaps, conduct software testing, verify critical settings, and support regulatory audits through detailed documentation and alignment.
7.  Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT) or Engineering preferred.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Technology or Engineering, preferably in the Gaming industry or Regulatory/Compliance, required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Proficiency in data analytics platforms including Power BI, Tableau, Excel (pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas), and SQL-based reporting tools for generating actionable insights.

  • Skilled in real-time event tracking and analysis using Splunk, ELK Stack, and syslog analyzers to monitor system health and detect anomalies.

  • Proficient in network analysis tools including Wireshark, network mapping utilities, and SNMP-based monitoring systems for diagnosing and optimizing network performance.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, LTspice, AutoCAD Electrical, and voltage testers for hardware troubleshooting and design validation.

  • Experienced in remote access and system management tools including RDP, SSH, TeamViewer, Windows/Linux OS utilities, and BIOS/firmware configuration.

  • Familiar with governance, risk, and compliance platforms such as Archer and MetricStream, with practical experience in maintaining regulatory audit trails and supporting compliance initiatives.

  • Proficient in collaboration and development tools including Confluence, SharePoint, Git, Jira, and ServiceNow for documentation, version control, and issue tracking.

  • Experienced in infrastructure setup and maintenance using cable testers, labeling systems, and rack layout software to ensure organized and efficient hardware deployments.

  • Thorough understanding and application of Technical Standards, as well as Tribal, State, and Federal Laws relevant to the role, with demonstrated ability to interpret and implement regulatory requirements.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • A+ or N+ certification preferred.

  • Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.

  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
