OVERVIEW

SnapNrack is seeking a Compliance Engineer to lead product safety, certification, and testing for our residential solar mounting systems. In this role, you’ll manage UL compliance, support NRTL submissions, and ensure product changes remain compliant and fully certified. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Product teams to maintain safe, code-compliant designs while driving continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • BSME or equivalent and 4+ years experience in hardware compliance, product safety engineering, or certification testing (solar/renewables strongly preferred)

  • Working knowledge of UL 2703 / UL 2703A, UL 3741, IEC 61215/61730, and related PV racking & module mounting standards in the United States and Canada

  • Working knowledge of ASTM testing methods relevant to structural hardware

  • Experience preparing and managing NRTL submissions including test plans, technical files, and corrective actions.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. building codes, ASCE 7, and structural load paths for rooftop PV systems

  • Familiarity with NEC Article 690 grounding/bonding provisions and PV system safety requirements

  • Ability to interpret evolving codes, standards, and regulatory guidance for rooftop solar installations

  • Manage SnapNrack’s compliance roadmap, certifications, recertification timelines

  • Ensure that product revisions and supply-chain/material changes remain compliant with all certifications

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Management to maintain compliant designs throughout lifecycle

  • Oversee and maintain compliance dossiers for UL audits, surveillance testing, and customer technical requests

  • Track regulatory updates and communicate implications to engineering leadership

  • Strong data analysis skills; ability to interpret structural test curves, regression analysis, and statistical significance

  • Excellent communication skills—can clearly articulate test results, regulatory constraints, and required design changes

  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong documentation discipline

  • Comfortable driving decisions with incomplete information while maintaining compliance boundaries

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple certification projects on tight timelines

  • Passion for renewable energy, rooftop solar, and advancing safe/innovative hardware solutions

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$85,617.44 to $114,156.59
