POSITION: Compliance and Operations Officer
DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage
REPORTS TO: Concessions Manager

THE ROLE
The Compliance and Operations Officer supports event-day execution by overseeing employee check-in and check-out processes, ensuring alcohol compliance standards are upheld, and assisting with post-event financial reconciliation. This role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and a positive workforce experience in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Event Check-In & Workforce Coordination
- Facilitate employee check-in at the beginning of events by directing staff, verifying assignments, and answering questions
- Manage and coordinate check-in processes for nonprofit (NPO) groups
- Ensure accurate attendance tracking and proper documentation of hours worked
- Provide real-time support to employees to ensure a smooth and organized onboarding process
Compliance & Monitoring
- Serve as an Alcohol Compliance Officer during events
- Monitor alcohol sales and service to ensure adherence to company policies and local/state regulations
- Identify, address, and escalate compliance concerns or violations in a timely and professional manner
- Reinforce training standards by guiding staff on proper alcohol service procedures
Post-Event Operations
- Oversee employee check-out procedures and verify accurate timekeeping
- Assist with closing concession locations, including cash handling verification and balancing tills
- Complete basic reporting and data entry related to attendance, compliance, and financial reconciliation
- Communicate discrepancies, shortages, or operational concerns to management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but provides functional oversight during events by guiding workflow, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting employees and NPO groups as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in event operations, food & beverage, hospitality, or compliance-related roles preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic technology proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with cash handling and compliance monitoring
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Comfortable working in large crowds and enforcing policies professionally
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain composed under pressure
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays since this will be event based for the locations below.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: On Site – Grand Rapids Complex (Van Andel Arena, Acrisure Amphitheater, Amway Stadium)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in crowded, loud, and fast-paced environments
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, if needed
