Job Description

Rockwell Automation is Expanding Human Possibility by combining the imaginations of people with the intelligence of machines. The Academy of Advanced Manufacturing is focused on the “people” aspect of the brand promise – addressing the need for highly trained workforce for the digital manufacturing environment. The Academy of Advanced Manufacturing is an innovative technical training program to rapidly upskill U.S. military veterans for in-demand technician roles in manufacturing. This position will be partnering with internal and external stakeholders to help our trainees develop as industry professionals while managing program outcomes, and business systems. This position is highly collaborative with key program stakeholders and repeatably process oriented across programs.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Trainee Engagements: The Academy of Advanced Manufacturing (AAM) Supervisor is responsible for managing a highly dynamic environment to ensure professional conduct from participating trainees and ensure a positive learning environment

  • Team Engagement: The supervisor is responsible to be the first line manager for all trainees participating in the program. The supervisor will provide real-time feedback as well as regularly scheduled reviews of trainee performance such that the trainee is fully engaged and aware of technical and professional performance. The supervisor will work with the AAM Staff (Core Team) to develop an understanding of trainee performance and areas of improvement. This role will also provide feedback to the Core Team regarding any issues or concerns coming from the Trainees during program delivery to ensure prompt attention to correction as necessary.

  • Program Execution: The Supervisor will be responsible for management of relevant business systems (ie Workday) and vendor management (Hotel, Program Supplies, etc) to ensure successful on-boarding and participation from trainees. The role will also be responsible for process of providing trainees with critical professional skills like interviewing, time management, conflict resolution, and resume writing.

    • Evaluate trainee performance on a continual basis and provide continuous performance feedback.
    • Practicing flexibility, confidence, and resilience during periods of tumult and change.
    • Manage outside vendor engagements for successful delivery of program
    • Manage professional skill development process
    • Actively listening to and responding to trainee concerns and issues, demonstrating integrity and trustworthiness under all circumstances and treating others honestly and fairly.
    • Advocate and maintain an inclusive environment of open and honest communication, enhancing a culture of mutual respect and integrity in which information flows freely
    • Maintain and enforce safe work practices while executing company policies and procedures with respect to disciplinary policies. Appropriately apply policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standard of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Code of Conduct, People Policy, ISO9000 & 14000, and governmental regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental) Control Environment, Information Protection, and functional policies
    • Process execution, documentation, and improvement
    • Support program enhancement and expansion

    • Capability for MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and Microsoft Outlook

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, no or in the future, for this job opening

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, technology or management fields or in lieu of a degree a minimum of 4 years working experience, preferably in Team management/supervision
  • Typically requires 5+ years of work experience and experience in working with direct management of 10+ employees
  • Capability to present and communicate (written and oral) with direct reports and peers
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team based environment
  • Ability to consider multiple inputs to make informed decisions
  • Work independently with minimal guidance
  • Enthusiastic about opportunities to establish and implement new approaches and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work in parallel to achieve objectives
  • Responsible for effectively influencing a multi-disciplinary team of people on behalf of employees
