ROLE OVERVIEW:
We're hiring an experienced Community Manager for the FIFA Canada Celebrates Tour, a national, multi-city touring program across Canada. This role is the critical link between SALT's office-based Community team and on-site execution. The Community Manager ensures that all municipal coordination, permitting, public safety alignment, and local stakeholder integration translate seamlessly from planning into live event delivery.
You will travel with the tour and serve as the primary community liaison on-site ensuring commitments made during pre-planning are properly executed, maintaining strong relationships with local partners and authorities, and proactively addressing community considerations in real time. This is a relationship-forward, detail-oriented role for someone who thrives on the road, communicates with diplomacy and confidence, and understands how to balance regulatory compliance with meaningful local engagement.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Community & Municipal Laison
- Act as the on-site representative for all community-related planning and commitments
- Serve as the primary connection between the office-based Community team and local market stakeholders
- Maintain active communication with municipal contacts, including permitting offices, parks departments, transportation authorities, and city officials
- Liaise on-site with police, fire, EMS, and public safety representatives as required
- Ensure all permit conditions and municipal requirements are being upheld during event execution
- Compliance & Safety Alignment
- Confirm all permitting documentation, insurance certificates, and approvals are in place prior to activation
- Ensure site maps, road closures, emergency access routes, and safety plans are implemented according to approved plans
- Support on-site risk mitigation and escalate compliance concerns immediately
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for each market
- Community Integration & Local Partnerships
- Ensure local vendors, community groups, nonprofits, and stakeholders are properly integrated into the event as planned
- Represent SALT with professionalism and respect in all community interactions
- Address community feedback or concerns in real time and coordinate resolutions with internal teams
- Support community-facing communications where required
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Tour Manager, Site Manager, and Activation Manager to ensure community requirements are aligned with operational plans
- Attend site walks and review site maps to ensure compliance with municipal approvals
- Flag potential conflicts between operational execution and permit requirements
- Provide daily updates to the office-based Community team while on the road
- Support overall tour execution as needed while maintaining primary focus on community responsibilities
- Participate in load-in and event-day coordination to ensure smooth stakeholder integration
- Assist in post-event reporting related to municipal and community commitments
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Experience working in live events, experiential marketing, marketing tours, municipalities, permitting offices, or public agencies in event
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders across different markets
- Exceptional communication, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable reading and interpreting site maps and operational plans
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through capabilities
- Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving instincts
- Education in Public Relations, Communications, Event Management, Sport Management, or a related field is a plus
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel extensively across Canada for the duration of the contract
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules
- Ability to perform physical production duties, including equipment handling
- Ability to attend municipal meetings, site walks, and on-site event days
- Adherence to all local, provincial, and federal regulations
