The Intel Zephyr real-time operating system (RTOS) team in the Software and AI organization is looking for an Operating System Development Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing Intel's RTOS, a system designed to consolidate the real-time latency requirements of critical IPs, and optimize firmware performance. Your contributions will have a direct impact on Intel's ability to meet current technological demands while paving the way for future innovation. By collaborating with the open-source community and driving industry standards, you will help shape the next generation of operating systems and development practices. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, test, and optimize operating systems, focusing on hardware abstraction layers, OS services, and user space software subsystems.
- Implement and enhance technologies in areas such as virtualization, containerization, connectivity stacks (Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS), networking routing, power management, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with open-source communities to align Intel's advancements with industry standards.
- Lead software development processes, including interface definition, CI/CD integration, and robust verification strategies.
- Balance the constraints of embedded control systems while building scalable frameworks for evolving customer needs.
- Influence Intel's development culture by integrating modern software development methodologies and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of experience.
The experience must be in/with:
- Operating system internals, debugging tools, and development environments.
- Technical expertise in software architecture and disciplined execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years with a Master's degree in a related field, or 1+ years with a PhD in a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
- Experience in providing architectural feedback to optimize software.
- A passion for driving innovation and contributing to groundbreaking technologies.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $149,600.00-211,200.00 USD
The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work Model for this Role
