Communications Assistant (Student Wage)

Facilities Management's Technology & Innovation team is hiring a Communications Assistant student worker.

Looking for a creative, hands‑on job that builds real‑world experience? Facilities Management’s Technology & Innovation team is hiring a Communications Assistant to help tell our story across newsletters, websites, and social media. You’ll work closely with a senior communications specialist and gain practical experience in writing, digital media, and collaborative projects—all while contributing to meaningful work on Grounds.

This role is ideal for students interested in communications, design, digital storytelling, media, journalism or marketing.

What you’ll do

  • Create engaging, informative content for newsletters, websites, social media, and other communication channels.
  • Capture photos and video; design graphics and flyers; and write, edit and proofread stories for a variety of audiences.
  • Research and fact‑check information to support accurate content creation.
  • Collaborate with teams across Facilities Management to support communication initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong writing skills and a creative approach to engaging an audience.
  • Comfort using Microsoft tools like Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience creating or managing social media content, including photography, video and graphics.
  • Openness to feedback and a desire to improve your skills.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to manage deadlines independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.

Bonus skills (not required, but a plus!)

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere) and/or Canva.
  • Interest or experience with digital accessibility requirements.

Hours and availability

  • Must be able to work primarily in-person during regular business hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday (up to 20 hours a week).
  • Position will begin in May 2026 and extend through August 2026, with the option to continue work during the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
