Position Summary

The Skandalaris Center Communications and Events Specialist will be responsible for the execution and continuous measurable improvement of the Center’s events and communications strategies, including the development of 50+ annual events and signature programs engaging alumni donors and sponsors, faculty, and students, communication outreach materials and protocols, and utilization of unique venues and mediums to reach the diverse audience of the Center.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop events and programs that engage the startup ecosystem and bring in sponsorship funding and resources to the Center – including events at the Danforth Campus, Med School Campus, Cortex, and the St. Louis region. Design promotional materials/work with contractors/student workers to create print and digital media; disseminate/advertise materials across both campuses; schedule/write press releases. Ensure compliance with University standards for all publications and promotional materials.
  • Design and implement all event activities and branding content strategy, generation and dissemination. Serve as a key liaison with regional Entrepreneurial Support Organizations, Washington University Departments/Organizations for collaborative events, the Office of University Advancement, the Office of Public Affairs, and other media outlets.
  • Actively track metrics and analyze demand/satisfaction/outcomes associated with Skandalaris Center initiatives; manage databases and assist with custom surveys. Input data, update records, run reports, in coordination with WUSTL colleagues.
  • Manage budget for execution of events plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Job Location/Working Conditions

  • The work environment is primarily an office setting with frequent events/programs where transporting of lightweight (15lbs) materials/tables/etc. will be required. 
  • Many Skandalaris events and programs are held in the evenings and on weekends, thereby requiring hours/activities outside the normal work-day as needed. Work will be conducted at both the Danforth and Medical School campuses and occasionally off-campus

Salary Range

$45,600.00 - $75,300.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
