Job Summary

The Communications Executive will support the Head of Brand and Communications in defining and executing strategic communications initiatives that enhance Absa Bank (Mauritius) Limited’s visibility, reputation, and stakeholder engagement — locally, regionally, and globally. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution across external and internal communications, content creation, media relations, events, CSR, and governance.

Job Description

Strategic Communications, External Relations, CSR & Events

  • Support the Head of Brand and Communications in developing and implementing PR strategies aligned with brand campaigns, ESG initiatives, employer branding, and reputation management. 

  • Draft and deliver public relations materials including press releases, media kits, and briefing documents. 

  • Organise and support press activities such as interviews, conferences, and media engagements. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media partners and ensure regular presence in high-profile publications. 

  • Act as a liaison with Absa Group for group-level communications and ensure alignment with brand standards. 

  • Support crisis communication efforts and contribute to the development of holding statements and response plans. 

  • Provide communications support for internal and external events, including strategy input, material production, and protocol coordination. 

  • Collaborate with the Events & Sponsorships Manager to deliver high-impact events such as press conferences, executive visits, and campaign launches. 

  • Support visibility efforts around CSR initiatives through storytelling, presentations, and multimedia content. 

 

Content Development & Brand Messaging

  • Create compelling content for various platforms including social media, newsletters, blog posts, and internal communications. 

  • Ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all communication touchpoints. 

  • Maintain and update corporate content on the organisation’s website and other owned channels. 

  • Monitor media coverage and campaign performance, generating reports and insights to inform future strategies. 

 

 Governance & Administrative Support

  • Participate in governance activities including process development and policy embedding. 

  • Provide administrative support such as scheduling, vendor coordination, and material management. 

  • Follow up with suppliers and external partners to ensure timely delivery of services and materials. 

  • Manage purchase orders (POs), track invoices, and support budget monitoring and compliance. 

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and brand guidelines across all communications activities. 

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

Preferred Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in financial services sector or corporate environments.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

  • Strong understanding of media relations, digital platforms, and content strategy.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and basic design or video editing tools.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret campaign data and media metrics.
