Commodity Trading Analyst

Atlanta Support Center Full time

The Commodity Management Analyst will provide data analysis and support to the Commodity Management team. This position will assist all categories and will require someone that is comfortable working with many different types of people. The Analyst is a data focused role providing input into Commodity Strategies and tracking the financial results of the Inspire Supply team.  This position will provide updates to management on key performance metrics. 

This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Commodity Trading strategies 

  • Perfom assigned analyses to forecast commodity prices
  • Create analytical and predictive modeling to support the team’s strategic goals.
  • Track and calculate the performance of strategies against actual pricing, Budget, goals of said strategies, and prior year(s).

Perform market basket analysis

  • Work with Procurement to forecast both exchange traded and physical commodity prices for all market basket items for all brands
  • Work with Commodity Management leadership to forecast commodity component of prices for all market basket items
  • Combine data to create a forecast of pricing for all brands as an input to their Budget
  • Track prices throughout the year to determine deviation from forecast and provide a report to Inspire Supply Management and brand teams
  • Develop templates that are consistent across brands and meet the needs of all brands for tracking commodity positions and overall performance to Budget /prior year

Track Hedge Positions and Team P/L

  • Support Commodity Team in tracking potential, in progress, and achieved savings versus market and profitability
  • Report to team stakeholders on performance

Partner with cross functional stakeholders

  • Provide them with necessary commodity data and analysis to support strategic goals
  • Follow relevant news sources on information about commodities important to Inspire and spread appropriate information to others within the organization
  • Establish relationships with counterparts across Inspire’s supply base to execute and track hedging strategies 

Other tasks as assigned by management could include training on risk management strategies and best practices to prepare the individual for the ability to take over strategy implementation of one or more commodities

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-Year degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or other equivalent and relevant to perform this function
  • At least one year of relevant trading, supply chain, procurement or finance support or related experience preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES   

  • People and results oriented
  •  Excellent presentation, and oratory skills•  
  • Deep analytical skills 
  • Intermediate working knowledge in Excel and Power Point
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment
  • A passion for the financial markets and trading
